2026 Tony Renning SHRM Scholarship

The Oshkosh Area SHRM Chapter established this scholarship fund in memory of Tony Renning, one of the Chapter’s co-founders, to honor his legacy and support the development of future HR professionals.

Our chapter is dedicated to serving the needs of HR practitioners and advancing the profession of human resource management in the Oshkosh area. Part of that mission includes supporting and investing in students pursuing HR careers.

Application Details

Award Amount: $1,000
Application Window: March 13, 2026 – April 12, 2026

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Enrollment: Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the Fall 2026 semester with the intent to pursue a career in Human Resource Management.
  • Location: Have a local residence within 30 miles of Oshkosh OR be enrolled in a post-secondary institution offering an HR degree program within 30 miles of Oshkosh.
  • Involvement (Preferred): While not required, ideal applicants demonstrate involvement in a student SHRM chapter, local SHRM chapter, and/or national SHRM membership.

Submission Requirements

To be considered, please submit all of the following via this form:

1. Essay #1: HR Career Motivation Write a brief essay explaining your motivation for entering the field, including:
  • Why you chose Human Resources as your career path.
  • The unique qualities you will bring to the profession.
  • Any HR-related experience you have already gained.

2. Essay #2: Current HR Trends The HR field is undergoing rapid transformation (AI, skills-based hiring, evolving employee expectations, etc.). Choose one current HR trend you believe will significantly shape the future of the profession.
  • Explain why this trend matters.
  • Describe one actionable way HR professionals can respond to support both organizational success and employee experience.

3. Unofficial Transcript: Attach your most recent unofficial academic transcript.

4. Current Resume: Attach a current version of your professional resume.
